An American, an Englishman and a Frenchman were discussing the meaning of savoir-faire.

"Well," said the American, "if you come home and found your wife in bed with your best friend, and you quietly sneaked out without them seeing you, that is savoir-faire."

"Not quite, chaps," said the Englishman, "if you came home and found your wife in bed with your best friend and you said, 'Don't let me disturb you. Please carry on,' that would be savoir-faire."

"Mais non," said the Frenchman, "if you came home and found your wife in bed with your best friend and you said, 'Don't let me disturb you. Please carry on.' and your best friend was able to continue, he's got savoir-faire."
